List

In no particular order...things I need to get accomplished around the house in the next year.

Things I can do...
(I should be able to get this list done in the next month or so.)
Paint Laura's room
Paint the hall
Finish the vinyl tile flooring through the hall
Put inexpensive carpeting in the kids' rooms
Hang shelves & rods in the closets

Things I need to hire out...
Central heat/air
Open wall between kitchen and living room (I can rip out the drywall)
Tear out wall between kitchen and laundry room
Center lights in kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms

I'd really like to do a face lift on the bathroom, if I can find time and a few extra $$. I'll just need to get the wall paper off the walls and do some serious painting. If possible, I'll replace the sink and cabinet (AWFUL!!!) I'll also need to lay down some new floor covering.

Small update...

Boys' room and Emma's room are painted! I still need to do a little trim work and figure out some flooring, but for now we're good :) I even scored some awesome deals on new bedding for them all.

I hope to get to Laura's room sometime next week. It's going to be purple so I'm in no rush.

I also need to paint the hall way. I did a bit of priming, but need to finish. I'm also toying with the idea of black trim around the doors. So many ideas paired with a complete and total lack of decision making skills...

Pics coming soon.

More drywall fun!

This is Emma's room before the window went in....(Above pic)

This is the boys' room. Ignore the lovely window covering for now :)

Boys' room minus the lovely window covering....Look, there's trim!

Emma's room with the window!

The hall...before it was just exposed framing...I'm super excited. Remodeling is messy business, btw...

Walls are up, outlets being hooked up today...just need a light to hang and a couple doors and I'm in business. Well, and paint. Lots and lots of paint.

So, one year later...

These are all pics of Laura's room...

Apparently I have no idea how to post pics in order. Let me just say after a very expensive year I finally have some $$ to get the house worked on. Walls are up today. Hopefully I'll be able to blog more now that I'm back to work on the house.

Ignore me.

I've decided to go with the sliding door in the front. Not sure where the craziness of a regular door/window combo came from, but I think I was influenced by an elderly person.

I still need walls. And wiring. And flooring. And an adult beverage.

HEAT!

Baby steps are better than none, right? Since the weather had turned cold The Man made his way to my house to put in the thermostat. I didn't realize that it was such an involved process! I figured you'd just slap it on the wall and be done. No. It involved drilling and cutting holes in the drywall. Then there was going under the house (not me, HAHA) to move the wires. The most difficult part of the whole thing was actually deciding where to put it.

In other news, my big plan of moving reusing the sliding glass door from the bedroom in the livingroom is a huge NO GO. Apparently the frame is all busted and crappy. Also, whoever "installed" it did a pretty crap-ass job of it.

After deciding to go with a normal door/window combo at the front of the house the decision of location had to be made. (I swear deciding where to put things makes me crazy! Once choice affects seemingly EVERYTHING else that's already been decided, lol.) It's all very draining, lol. We now have to go back and re-evaluate everything that hasn't already been done. Joy among joys, I say.

But, at least I can control the temperature now :)

It's been a while...

I haven't posted in a really long time. The house is still torn apart. I had some health issues that had to be taken care of and The Man has been super busy with his own life.

I do have some updated pics that I'm going to try to post this week. I've been pretty down about not having more done, but I can only do what I can do, right?
